Genesis 32 & 33 Jacob was in panic mode.  The Message described it as "scared, very scared, panicked."  Surely we've been in similar modes.  Look at his prayer in 32: 9-12.  Pull out the points of his prayer and consider if they can be applied to your next crisis.. After Jacob prayed what did he do? I mentioned last week that meeting in the cafe may not be conducive to prayer together. If something comes up and you would like the group to pray we have options.  We can go down a hall and pray together.  Attach a comment to the blog (be sure to follow or subscribe so you'll get notice). And/or text or call. This week we'll add an empty chair so someone new will be able to join us.

See you all at the high top table by the door.  I'll try to get there early enough to claim it.  Years ago there was a line in a TV commercial that I often remember:  "When E.F. Hutton speaks, people listen."  Who is someone that you listen to when they speak? Genesis 30 Perhaps Jacob was inspired to better living when Joseph was born. What events have inspired you to change the course of your life? Genesis 31 Have you ever heard God speak to you?  Was it audible? What did Jacob do after he heard from God? A great thing happened last week.  Since our room was so cold we sat in the cafe.  This enabled a warm welcome to new people as they entered. It was more than a coincidence!  It was a divine appointment! Let's meet at the same table this week to meet more new people and invite them to join us. Genesis 28: 1-5, 20-22 Ever had a memorable dream, while sleeping?  Did it include a message?  What did you learn from it?  How do you keep the memory alive? Read through Genesis 29 - 31.  We can blame and criticize Jacob and Laban and the women for their misbehavior but we've done the same things.  I noticed some dangerous thoughts and words which can serve as early warnings for me to adjust my attitude.. Let's list those words that are dangerous and use them to trigger a different behavior when we hear them.
