I'll be in Indiana this Sunday.  Please carry on! Read Matthew 28: 16-20 Have you noticed that there were doubters, or reluctant followers, in the crowd? Undeterred Jesus went ahead and laid out His plan for His followers.  What did Jesus tell them, and us, to do? Has doubt kept you from following God? How can you overcome doubt? Can doubt build faith? Is doubt the opposite of faith or faith's misgiving? Read John 20:19-29 What can you learn about dealing with doubt from a famous doubter, Thomas? Read Acts 1:8.  What was Jesus reminding them, and us, as His parting comments? How are we to unveil God in our daily lives? What does your "pulpit" look like? Where is your "pulpit"? Who is in front of your "pulpit"? Why do you have a "pulpit"? See you next week!

I will be in Indiana July 28 and August 4.  Please do carry on without me!  I will send out questions for August 4. Bonus:  I jotted down some of our points when we discussed "How to Walk in the Spirit" and Galatians 6: 1.  Be gentle with touch and tongue - 6:1a 2.  Don't repay in kind - 6:1b 3.  Consider the other person's situation - 6:2 4.  It doesn't matter if you haven't robbed a bank - 6:3-5 5.  Sow spiritually to reap spiritually -  6:7b-8 6. Seize the opportunity to do good to all - 6:10 We must get along to share Christ with others. Pastor Derek referred to a quote from John Wesley. I found an interesting blog post. https://www.google.com/amp/s/unsettledchristianity.com/the-serious-man-to-john-wesley-solitary-religion/amp/ Share your thoughts.   Our culture encourages individualism.  Yet to best serve Christ we need companions and community. Pastor Derek used the example of a rowing team.  T...

Read Galatians 5:13-26 What jumps off the page? Did your family have any rules or traditions to help the family "get along"?  What were they?  Did they help? What causes discord in a family? Are there church rules that are intended to keep us unified? How can we "walk in the Spirit"? Why should we walk in the Spirit? What are questions to ask yourself when there is discord in the family? Does freedom help or hinder unity?  Why? Why is our "walk in the Spirit" not private or personal?

Think of a group that you are a part of that you would describe as unified. What circumstances brought the group together? How does the group maintain unity? Are there dangers to group unity? Read John 17:30-23 What group is Jesus identifying? What is the group's mission? Who are the participants? How will unity be maintained? How will the group be protected? What do these verses tell us about how to pray for those we love? What does it mean to get "in to" God? What obstacles are there to encountering God's word? What do we give up for unity? Does God work in the lives of non-believers? Describe the tension between adapting for the sake of unity and the gospel and embracing a worldly identity. Read Galatians 5: 13- 26 What advice do these verses give on unity?

Let's explore Leann's statement: We are to look different from the world that others will notice but not so different that we are unapproachable. This article appeared on my Facebook feed this morning: https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2019/june-web-only/evangelism-workplace-ministry-gwf-christian-faith-at-work.html Here's the article which contains the assessment questions: https://www.barna.com/research/christians-more-like-jesus-or-pharisees/ Let me know if you have problems using the links. Do those around you know you follow Jesus?   How and why? Read 1 Peter 2:9-12.  What jumps off the page for you? What is one thing you'd like to try this week to show Jesus in your life?
